CAST: Communities Addressing Suicide Together
CAST is a program under the scope of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Nova Scotia Division in which they are helping to build their capacity to address suicide by using the principles of community suicide prevention as a guide.
As part of the CAST program, a Nova Scotia’s Survivors of Suicide Loss Guide is available to include information to access the support and resources available when dealing with a loss.

A two-week group program for individuals that require a more intensive and daily treatment option.
Individuals may benefit from this type of program if they recently left an inpatient treatment program (i.e. detox) or need more help making changes to their substance use and/or gambling after trying other community-based treatment methods.

3. Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital
An ongoing, client-focused program that is based on what the client or group of clients want to work on that day. There is no waitlist or referral process. The client or family member simply walks in, meets with staff to form a care plan with them and then gets started.

5. Crisis Response Service
Our local Crisis Response Services provide assistance to children, youth, and adults who are experiencing a crisis due to a mental health disorder, harmful substance use or gambling problem.
